More Than a Month: Honoring Our Pastors Year-Round

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and I’ve been thinking: When was the last time I told my pastors how much they mean to me? If I’m honest, it’s probably been too long. Maybe you can relate.

This month, I want to pause and say thank you to my pastors—and yours. Ministry is more than a job; it’s a calling. Those who answer that call carry a weight most of us never see. They preach, shepherd, counsel, and care. They hold both the joys and heartbreaks of a congregation in the same hands, and they do it faithfully, week after week.

So, to Pastors James, Andrew, Bruce, Clint, Tim, Jordan, David, Michael, Isaac, Jose, and Patricia—I say thank you! Your leadership matters more than words can express. You continually point us to Jesus in your preaching, your teaching, and your quiet faithfulness. I’m grateful for each of you, not just this month, but all year long.

If you’re a pastor or church staff member reading this: you are seen, valued, and deeply appreciated. Scripture reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:12–13, “Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord… Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work.” Your work matters. The Church is stronger because of you.

If you’re an elder, board member, or committed church member, let me encourage you to take Pastor Appreciation Month a step further this year. Beyond a kind note or public recognition, ask yourself:

  • Does our pastor have a retirement plan?

  • Are we making steady contributions on their behalf?

  • Who’s helping our pastor stay financially on track?

These aren’t just financial questions—they’re stewardship questions. Caring for your pastor means helping provide for their future as faithfully as they’ve provided for you.

That’s why Servant Solutions exists: to serve those who serve. For more than 75 years, we’ve walked alongside pastors and ministry staff to provide biblically sound, ministry-focused retirement planning. We offer lower-than-average fees, values-aligned investments, and free financial planning for every member. Our mission is simple: to give pastors financial security so they can continue making a Kingdom impact, both now and in retirement.

This Pastor Appreciation Month, let’s not only say “thank you”—let’s show it in meaningful, lasting ways. And let’s make that a year-round habit.
