Reflecting on the 2024 CBA Conference

As a part of the breakout session after Asha Saxon’s keynote, we met as a team to work through a rough mapping of priority AI impact areas.

Servant Solutions team members had the privilege of attending the Church Benefits Association (CBA) Conference in Louisville, KY. The CBA, a network of over 50 denominational benefits organizations, collectively serves tens of thousands of church staff and ministry workers across the United States. Through shared resources, strategic partnerships, and open dialogue, the CBA equips its members to navigate the unique challenges of administering benefits for those who dedicate their lives to serving others.

This year’s conference focused on sharing best practices and exploring the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) in the benefits administration sector. Attendees examined how AI is reshaping processes, from automating routine tasks to enhancing member engagement. The discussions highlighted both opportunities and challenges, particularly around maintaining data privacy and ensuring human-centered care remains at the forefront.

We had the pleasure of learning from thought leaders such as Asha Saxon, a professor at Columbia University and best-selling author. Asha shared valuable insights into the evolving workplace dynamics and the role AI can play in fostering innovation. She challenged us to think critically about how technology intersects with our mission to "serve those who serve."

Servant Solutions was well-represented at the event, with Jim O’Bold, Nabil Safi, Jennifer Tafflinger, and Jodi Hull pictured alongside Asha Saxon during a breakout session. Our team left energized and inspired by the exchange of ideas and the opportunity to connect with peers who share a passion for serving the church.

These conversations reaffirmed our commitment to continuous improvement and leveraging innovative tools to serve our members with excellence. As we move forward, we’ll continue to explore how advancements in technology can support our mission while remaining steadfast in our dedication to ministry workers and their unique needs.

We’re grateful to the Church Benefits Association for hosting this meaningful event and to all the speakers and attendees who made it a success. Here’s to applying what we’ve learned as we step into 2025 together!

One of the richest elements of the conference is connecting with like-minded organizations in the world of church benefits. Jim O’Bold and Nabil Safi are pictured here with good friend Art Rhodes of the Church of God Benefits Board.
